It has not been easy these days, especially when there are bills to pay, projects to undertake with little or no money at hand. Sometimes you may get discouraged because your poverty is getting over you. However it may seem, you need to realize that your finances can blossom once again, or you can live in prosperity and abundance. But this can only happen when you trust God in your finance.
What is God’s plan for me concerning my finances?
The plan of God concerning your life has been clear from the beginning in his word. His heart desire that you should prosper is the same in every area of your life, including your finances. God’s plan is that you are not only blessed but become a blessing in return. No matter where you’re or what you’re going through, understand that God wants the best for you. If he didn’t withhold his son, there’s nothing he can’t give you. (3 John 1:2)
How do I Trust God with My Finances
Most time, believers find it hard to believe in God when it comes to money. But the truth is that there is no other way out there that is as reliable as God. Everything that is not built on the sure foundation of the word of God will surely crumble. It may be a little bit difficult at the start, but it is possible. Simon Peter once doubted, but after taking a step by step approach, his eyes were finally open to see that everything is possible with God. So, here is the step by step ways on how to trust God with your finances:
Believe that God can supply all your needs:
God is never limited in his capacity to provide for you. Always bear in mind that God will always take care of you. You must believe this. Think of all the times that God provided for you. If he had done it before, he would do it again. He is our Heavenly Father, and he takes care of his children. No matter how big it may be, God will supply it all and beyond. Have faith and rest your heart on his word. Carry the consciousness that he will meet your every need. “And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19NLT
Be Grateful and Content for everything:
Being content is an important virtue when it’s all good and when it’s all low. Being content; void of comparison helps you to trust God more. Being grateful for what you have will change your mindset and help you see the positive side of things. Being content and grateful shifts your sight from what you lack to what you have. Never compare, be content.
“I’ve learned by now to be quite content whatever my circumstances. I’m just as happy with little as with much, with much as with little. I’ve found the recipe for being happy, whether full or hungry, hands full or hands empty. Whatever I have, wherever I am, I can make it through anything in the One who makes me who I am.” Philippians 4:10-14MSG
Giving and Tithing:
Everything in life works by principles designed by God. If you don’t follow these principles, you will never get the desired results. One of such principles is Giving and Tithing. Both are commandments from God. When you obey, you get blessings from them. Giving includes your offerings to the needs of others, the poor, and the Church. You experience true living through giving. No matter how little you have, give. Givers will never lack.
Give cheerfully and not grudgingly. “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Luke 6:38 NLT
Tithing is proof that you trust God and you put him first. It involves giving God a part of your increase; salary, profits. You must give your tithes first before anything else. The Biblical standard of tithing is 10%. You dishonor God and show a lack of trust when you refuse to give or pay your tithes.
Don’t be Anxious/Worry:
Worry is a robber of your Joy. It simply means you trust yourself more than you trust God. It weakens our Faith in God. Worry is a choice. It may not be easy not to worry when you have bills to pay, or the rent is due or perhaps a debt you owe, but you must choose not to worry. God hates worry. Rather seek his Kingdom first and trust Him to provide. “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.” Matthew 6:31-33NLT
Submit your requests and concerns to God through prayer:
God cares so much about you, and he’s willing and ever ready to help you if only you submit to him. Give him your concerns, fear, and worries through prayers. Give him your burdens. Trade your troubles for his peace. Let your request be made known to him. His hands are always wide to help you. (Philippians4:6-7)
Benefits of Trusting God with your Finances
It leads to breakthrough: When you begin to trust God in your finances, you will start receiving the breakthrough that happened when Jesus multiplied the five loves and two fishes. Any limitation will no longer hold you down because your faith is not in the circumstances but in the Lord God.
You’ll have Perfect Peace: Believers who do not experience peace are those who do not trust God. But when you trust in him, you will be like a baby who always believes his parent will come through for him. The bible says, “You will keep in perfect peace the steadfast of mind because he trusts in You. … Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee” (Isaiah 26:3)
You’ll have Joy: Joy is not a product of whether things are working or not. It is the inner satisfaction that you have regardless of your condition. You will not be moved any longer by your financial situation. This is because you have something bigger inside of you.
It opens doors of blessings for you: Those who trust in the Lord shall never be put to shame. This is because the Lord will daily load them with benefits. Even before they ask, it will be granted.
It builds your faith in God: When you trust in the Lord all the time, your faith will be stirred continually. As a result, you will be motivated to pray, study the word of the Lord, and be committed to your service to Him.
Trusting God with your Finances may seem difficult, but it’s one of the best decisions you could ever make. Step out of fear and trust the One who can meet your every need. Remember, all that you have was given to you by God; trust him.
