Billions of miracles have been recorded as a result of prayer. For the unbeliever or atheist, praying looks foolish. But for the believer, prayer is an economy in God’s realm by which His will is expressed. There are so many things that happen when we pray e.g., healing, deliverance, salvation, blessings, etc. The truth is that a lot of possibilities are activated when we pray. In this article, you shall be learning about some of the possibilities in the place of prayer.

Excerpts from the book of Acts of the Apostles recorded diverse possibilities in attribution to prayers made by the apostles and the early church. For example, in Acts 4:31, it was recorded that there was shaking after they had prayed, another example is that of Apostle Peter, who was held in bonds by king Herod who had earlier killed Apostle James to please the Jews, it was stated in the Bible that the church prayed earnestly for Peter and the Lord orchestrated his release in grand style. (Acts 12: 1-11). Here are some of the possibilities in prayer;

1. Establishment of our Father’s Kingdom on earth: Our Lord Jesus, while teaching the disciples how to pray in the sixth chapter of Matthew, it can be observed that in the tenth verse; the prayer focus was the establishment of God’s Kingdom on earth just as it is in heaven. We live in a world ridden with all manner of vices and evil. As believers and faithful followers of Christ, we are saddled with the responsibility of making the kingdom of our Father in heaven find establishment on earth, this we have not been empowered otherwise but only by way of prayer.
2. Establishment of God’s promises: Scattered across scriptures are great and wonderful promises of God for every man who chooses to walk in God’s ordained way. In other words, God is not silent concerning the bountiful rewards of being on His side and living for His purposes on earth; nevertheless, not every one of these promises is automatically activated. The mechanism of implementing prayer is very crucial to the fulfillment of these wonderful promises. Not only do we remind Him in prayers, but we also contend for their quick and earnest expression in our lives.
3. Mortification of fleshly deeds: Ever from the fall of the first man (Adam) at the garden of Eden, the flesh has been the greatest enemy of a man who had chosen the path of the spirit, as could be seen all the way from the book of Genesis until the new testament when the Messiah came, the deeds of the flesh continued to ravage man like a plague. Our Lord Jesus establishing the truth in Mark 14:38, admonished us to watch and pray so that we won’t enter into temptation, as the spirit is ready. Still, the flesh is weak, the flesh is a serious enemy of the spirit as could be seen in Galatians 5:17, and only through the constant engagement of God who is a spirit in the place of prayer can silence the immoral urges of the flesh.
4. Victory in warfare: There is no other assurance given to every believer for consistent and continuous victory than in the place of prayer. The letter of Apostle Paul to the Ephesian church attests to this, as could be seen in Ephesians 6:12, which emphasizes that we do not wrestle with physical beings. Still, spiritual ones, and a further buttress can be found in 2 Corinthians 10:4, which states that ‘the weapons of our warfare are not carnal,’ in other words, they are only spiritual and not carnal, the knowledge of this truth is the reason why we can’t pick up arms and challenge the children of the bondwoman, we know we’ve always had this victory from Calvary, our Lord is waiting for us to lift our voices and appropriate the already won a victory to any challenge confronting us, victory is only assured in the place of prayers.
5. Transformation: The book of 2 Corinthians 3:18 states that as we behold the glory of our God as in a glass, we are being changed into the same image, from glory to glory, even as by His spirit. Even though it wasn’t implied in the scripture if the beholding and the change are by prayer, however, the account of Moses on the mount with God for forty days after which he descended and his face shined like the sun is a testimony to the fact that we can actually behold by prayer and be changed, do you desire a transformation in your walk with God? It is time to behold the Immortal Spirit, and as you do in prayers, you won’t be able to stop your inevitable transformation.
6. Real-time Changes: Every man has a measure of challenges he faces at every stage of his life. The truth still remains that not all challenge is from God. Some are actually from the enemy, which is orchestrated to cause a delay in our journey of destiny. It is necessary to discern such kind challenges, and only in the place of prayer can real-time changes be effected. The Bible records the account of a man called Jabez in 1 Chronicle 4:10, who called upon the name of the Lord for a change in his destiny, and God heard him. How about those who come from Christian homes and have one or two of their siblings rebel against the faith, such ones have been had in prayers by their fellow siblings, and they’ve met with the Lord for an encounter that will forever change their lives for the best. The life and destiny of a man can actually be reprogrammed in the place of prayer. Do you believe it, then get to it now!
7. Activation and sharpening of spiritual senses: Nothing else sharpen a believer’s sense of discernment than a constant life of prayer, most especially when combined with fasting. There’s so much to contend with in the vicissitudes of life that daily cumbers our minds; hence a believer who loves her Lord must ventilate her spirit to remain active in the things of the spirit and get going with God. Non-functioning spiritual senses are as good as dead. Chart out a prayer plan to resuscitate your spiritual organs if you fall into this category. God is waiting to communicate with you.
