FAITH Part 4: Why is Faith Important?

When things don’t go as planned, it’s easy to lose faith in everything, including in God and your abilities. As a result, you tend to question the foundation of your belief. However it may seem, or regardless of different outcome, faith is hinged upon good things to come. It is the belief that things will get better, even if they are difficult at the moment. Keep on reading to learn more about why faith is important and deep-rooted in the heart and the spirit of every believer in Christ.

The Importance of Faith for the Believer:

Below are some of the importance of faith to us;

Faith sets things right with God:

The word of God says that it is through faith that you can please God. This is true because you will have to believe that God is who He says He is. It takes faith to believe in a God you cannot see. Therefore, each time you show your faith in God, He is usually pleased with you. An example is Abraham, who believed in God, and this belief was counted for righteousness (Hebrews 11:6).

Faith is needed to receive things from God:

Hebrews 11 is archived of people who receive things from God because of their sterling faith in Him. For example, Abraham received the promise of a son by faith. He had grown old, and Sarah, his wife, was also old. It was impossible for a woman her age to give birth to a child by all physical means. Based on Abraham’s faith in God, the spoken word came to pass, and Isaac was born.

The greatest master and teacher demonstrated the importance of faith in the New Testament; Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour. (Matthew 15:28)

The story here is about a woman who came to Jesus. She wanted Him to heal her demon-possessed daughter. When Jesus saw her faith, He commended her. He then granted her her heart desire. So, faith helps the believer to receive from God.

Faith helps fulfill purpose:

Life has its ups and downs. Sometimes, you might get so focused on the downs that you lose the resilience to push forward and achieve your purpose. In such situations, it is your faith in God that helps you through, even when things seem bleak. A good example is the story of Gideon. The Israelites were all living in fear of the Midianites. Then the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon. He told him that the Lord was with him, and he called him a “mighty man of valor.” This built-up faith in Gideon; he arose and fought against the Midianites (Jude 6:11-13).

Why Is Faith Important In Everyday Life?

Faith is not just for your spiritual life. As a believer, your very life is built on faith. So, faith is very applicable in your daily life, from sitting on a chair without fear of collapsing to crossing the road without being hit by a car. So, faith is very important in your everyday life. Below are some of the reasons for this:

Faith in God provides strength:

The strength here is not a physical ability to perform tasking jobs. Rather, it’s the inner ability to withstand challenging situations. An example is found in the story of how David killed Goliath. (1 Samuel 17). David was just a shepherd at that time; he wasn’t a soldier.

Nevertheless, he approached King Saul and told him he’d handle Goliath. It’s like a third-grade kid telling a college teacher “I can solve your mathematical problems.” Yet David fought and won against Goliath. It was his faith in God that made him able to do that.

Faith Breeds courage:

Courage and strength are two different things though they’re sometimes used similarly. Courage is the ability to do something that looks scary. It’s the ability to act on your beliefs despite the threats of danger. In your daily activities, it will take your faith in God to be courageous. When writing exams, when starting a new business, even when going into the labor room, you are able to face it with courage based on your faith in God. A biblical example can be found in Esther, who saved the Israelites by being courageous and taking the right actions even at the threat of death. (Esther 7)

What Do You Do When You Need Faith?

There are three basic things you can do:

Read the Word of God:

The Bible says, ” faith comes by hearing the word of God.” Hearing does not refer to listening to sermons alone. It also includes reading the word. When you read the Bible, your inner ears hear the word. With this word, faith is stirred up within you (Romans 10:17).

Pray:

After reading the word, praying helps internalize the word. Also, scripture says you should ask, and you will receive (Matthew 7:7). This applies to everything, including your faith. In challenging times, when it looks like you’re unable to believe God, praying would help you. When you pray, the Holy Spirit reminds you of what you’ve read in the Bible. With this, your faith is stirred again.

Take Action:

Nothing pleases God like people who take action without seeing any physical signs. In his last sermon, Jesus admonishes Thomas that “blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed” (John 20:29). Your belief spurs your action. So when you are in need of faith, God is saying take action.

How Does Faith Impact Your Life?

  1. It’s through faith that we receive spiritual things. Spiritual things cannot be seen with our physical eyes. Thus, it takes faith to receive them (Galatians 3:14).
  2. Salvation was gotten through faith: You became a believer by grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8).
  3. It is through faith that you can believe the word of God in every area of your lives: It takes faith to believe in God’s promises for healing, in your finances, or any other area.

In conclusion, faith is just as essential to your survival as the air you breathe. It is like the oxygen you breathe in that sustains you physically. It feeds you spiritually, provides emotional support, strengthens your knowledge to take action. So, faith is needed in every fiber and cell of your body for triumph. You can’t separate it from your muscles or your thoughts; it’s needed in every part of you and the very foundation of your very being as a believer in Christ.
